A competitive analysis is typically done to size up your competition. You would look at their strengths and weaknesses as compared to yours and then you build a strategy around what you learn, which usually includes ways for you to capitalize on their weaknesses and build them up as strengths within your business or organization.
This is not a bad way to analyze your competition but, I've learned about a new, better way to capitalize on the competitive analysis.
