Do you put out fires first thing Monday morning? The beginning of the week is always hectic. Mondays are rushed. It’s inevitable, right? Leftover tasks from the prior week, you are behind, and you can’t get ahead. I get it.
Let's make a change this week, by taking an honest look at one of the most important tasks in your workflow. I’ll suggest that one thing is marketing because it is directly tied to your bottom line. If you don’t do some sort of marketing, or if you don’t do it well, then your chances at failing are...like rushed hectic Mondays...inevitable.

The rules of business have changed. You can see it, sense it, and maybe even know logically that things are evolving in the modern landscape of business and economy. But like many, maybe you haven't made the changes yet. This is primarily due to two things. 1) You don’t know what it is exactly that you need to change. 2) You haven’t broken your habits of operating the old way.
Awareness is the first step in changing. So, let’s start by revealing what needs to change immediately. I say immediately because continuing to operate in this way will absolutely lead to failure. You must allow your strategies to evolve... Today, I'll share some information about how to know when you should hire a marketing manager. Marketing management is a big task. Many entrepreneurs are already pulled too thin, therefore neglecting important aspects of running their businesses. I'm often told marketing is a burden. When this is the case, marketing becomes inconsistent at best and non-existent at worst. This is detrimental to small businesses and organizations because consistent communication is crucial in an already over-crowded marketplace...
By the time Friday afternoon rolls around, I feel like I've hit a wall. My focus starts to go onto other things like baking, sewing, house shopping, hiking, getting the garden ready....anything but business-related tasks. Though I'd LOVE to dive into these more meditative projects, there is an endless list of things I need to address for my company. Apparently, we're supposed to work until 5 pm, AT LEAST, if we want to advance our careers. Or so we are told in "Lean In" according to Sheryl Sandberg COO of Facebook. But, all I want to lean into are the red forest cupcakes that I'm dying to make!... Marketing tasks can become cumbersome, inconsistent, and downright exhausting if you don't have the right tools. But we want to help. Firefly Strategies uses several marketing management tools to help clients streamline their marketing efforts and create systems that save time and bring in results.
Below, we share our top 5 marketing management tools along with links to access those tools right away. So, you can start producing consistent, relationship building marketing campaigns that save time, increase productivity, and bring about BIG results for your business or organization... Inspiration, motivation, passion, and mission are all precursors for success. These things help launch the idea, product, program, or service and give us the start for achieving success. But how do you actually get there? How do you get to the kind of success that goes viral and starts trending, the success that is big, bold...and for some...sustainable?
It comes from taking consistent action. One swim stroke, one step, one breath, one word, one brushstroke, one phone call, and one email at a time. This is continued for the long haul, taking at least 6 months to a year or two, or even more, to see the results of your efforts. It takes heartened commitment and sometimes it can be painful. So how does one do it? What is it that keeps us from derailing and getting off the path? Many think it is inspiration or motivation that drives consistent action, but no so... You may or may not know this already, but you are in the midst of a movement. It's huge. In fact, it is reshaping our economy into a brand new structure, where YOU can play a vital role. We are in what I like to call the Entrepreneurial Era and you either already are or have the opportunity to be a trailblazer in this movement. My passion and mission are to help you succeed as an entrepreneur, for you to truly tap into that trailblazing potential.
It's not just those of us starting businesses that are participants in this era. No. You can and are part of the movement whether you are a nonprofit leader or an employee in a small business. You just have to hone into that entrepreneurial mindset. When you do, the sky's the limit. I liken entrepreneurs in the new economy to fireflies. Small yet significant, trailblazing, and building community. When they all come together, what a beautiful result! I've discovered simple tenets for igniting the entrepreneurial mind-set and succeeding in the Entrepreneurial Era. Are you ready to step fully into that movement? Then read on... Life is short. Even for those that get to live long ones...it still seems so short. So, when a young soul is taken, I think...how unfair. It is heart-wrenching. The news headlines on the shootings of elementary school kids have weighed heavily on my heart and I am beyond words. I can't even imagine what the parents of those children are going through. I ask everyone to send prayers and loving thoughts their way. Light a candle to remember those lost. When I read these stories, it sent shock waves through my body...reminding me to be grateful that I still have my life. I feel grateful that today I was able to get up and breathe, that my heart is beating, and I'm safe and warm at home. We take these magical moments and mere instances in our lives for granted. Take the time to tell someone you love them genuinely today, give your child the biggest hug you've ever given them, tell a friend how much you appreciate them, or congratulate a colleague on a job well done. Life is short. Spending your time acknowledging others and being grateful needs to take priority in our lives, so make it a priority every day. Leave the small differences behind. Open your heart to give and fully appreciate what you have. In celebration of your Illumination! Creating content regularly is a strongly recommended marketing activity.
One of the best ways to stay top-of-mind is to regularly post fresh new content in front of your target audience, community, and tribe. Of course, the content you produce has to be valuable to your audience. Here is the dilemma: What exactly is valuable content? Putting forth relevant, useful, actionable information is of utmost importance. Ask yourself...does the reader gain something from applying the information you are sharing? You should make an impression on them even if they decide never to buy from you. That is how you decide what is valuable content. Take out a lot of the guesswork. Here are some ways to figure out what your target audience or community will value... Okay...late-night blogging sessions have already lost their luster for me. Wait, I never did dig them very much! I'm going to have to make a change. I must say, writing when all other things are off your plate, does feel good. But, not getting enough sleep...this does NOT feel good. So how to address this dilemma? Which one has negative consequences in the short AND long term?
Lack of sleep is detrimental to your health. Your body does important rejuvenating work when you are sleeping. When you sleep less, you rejuvenate less. Eventually, this catches up with you. For some, the effects can take longer, but others suffer immediately... |
