Okay...late-night blogging sessions have already lost their luster for me. Wait, I never did dig them very much! I'm going to have to make a change. I must say, writing when all other things are off your plate, does feel good. But, not getting enough sleep...this does NOT feel good. So how to address this dilemma? Which one has negative consequences in the short AND long term? Lack of sleep is detrimental to your health. Your body does important rejuvenating work when you are sleeping. When you sleep less, you rejuvenate less. Eventually, this catches up with you. For some, the effects can take longer, but others suffer immediately... As a mom, lack of sleep has become the norm. If you are not sleeping enough, you have to ask yourself how to help your body rejuvenate when you can only get a few hours of rest a night, instead of the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep?
I try to take short breaks throughout the day. I'll brew a hot cup of tea and close my eyes for a few seconds or do a sun salutation as the sun streams through my windows. My kids enjoy these moments too! When I can get them to nap and then get away from the looming pile-up on my desk, I will take a hot steaming shower, or meditate. I call these my mini-vacations. Before I started taking mini-vacations, I thought I was going to lose my mind. The mini-vacations do wonders for helping me feel rested and taken care of. As a solopreneur, I am the biggest asset for my company. So staying alert, aware, listening, and participating, all require my best self...a healthy me! Now it's your turn. Tell me how you take the time you need to rejuvenate? And...what's your favorite act of rejuvenation? Here's to your Illumination!
